Welcome to
The word Anima has a variety of definitions. Here it simply means “soul,” or one’s individuality, or one’s inner essence. An old soul has a finely tuned compassionate, tolerant, and magnanimous nature, from the Latin roots magnus, meaning great, and animus, here meaning spirit. Old Anima provides information, in a variety of forms, that may be helpful for older adults (and young souls, too), by drawing mostly from humanity’s stock of wise philosophers and scientists. I’m George Lorenzo, owner and chief of Old Anima. I comb the wild web with a highly critical eye; regularly visit libraries and bookstores; occasionally listen to podcasts; and read, read, read - with the goal in mind of synthesizing and sharing the most important aspects of what I learn.  Some of the results of that learning comes out in personal essays that focus on philosophy, psychology, and work. Other essays are not so easily slotted into specific categories and are listed under the variegated category. There’s much more on this website, including: a carefully chosen interesting products section, a modern digital health section, a books on aging section, and an expansive resources on aging section with additional sub-categories (organizations & research centers,  publishers/aging related, philosophy, psychology, spirituality, health, work & retirement, and publishers/miscellaneous). All of these sections provide painstakingly curated links to what I consider to be valid and authoritative information resources. The idea is to help visitors cut through the overly prevalent misinformation available online and get straight to what’s intelligent, meaningful, purposeful, and truthful. I know I don’t always hit that high bar, but I’m giving it my best shot, and I hope you find it both interesting and helpful. Sincerely, George Lorenzo Feedback welcome at george@oldanima.com PLEASE SUBSCRIBE  TO THE OLD ANIMA MONTHLY ENEWSLETTER. SEE PAST ISSUES HERE.
